Begin Your Career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse

The Licensed Vocation Nursing (LVN) certificate program at PCC prepares students to begin a career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Our courses cover basic nursing knowledge and skills in the care of individuals throughout the lifespan. Students are also required to gain practical experience while providing care to clients in the community under the supervision of qualified nursing instructors.

What is a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)?

As a LVN, you will be prepared to assist the physician and registered nurse in the care of the sick, in prevention of disease, and in the rehabilitation of the sick and injured. You will be able to seek employment in hospitals, clinics, private physicians' offices, and skilled nursing care facilities. A career field of Vocational Nursing is:

  • a profession which offers challenges and satisfaction for anyone who likes to work with people
  • a dynamic profession, always progressing with newer concepts, techniques and solutions
  • a creative profession; as nursing is an art, innovative in its interventions for the comfort and welfare of its clients
